Looking up at cliffs above the campground.
Would be great to camp so close to the cliffs. Maybe next time I am here I will choose this spot.
The rocks of the Arkansas River are so smooth and the water so clear.
Gazing down upriver--it seems to go forever.
Leapfrogging around the large river rocks was great fun.
Looking at the river from in between two boulders.
So clear and inviting...but also a bit cold.
There was very little sediment or dirt. The lack of which contributed to the clarity of the water and the clean definition of the rocks, stones, and boulders.
The pretty rock were strewn about the campground, and apparently gathered into some piles by someone.
I can't help starting down the endless river.
The dirt road into the campground.
Looking back and the entryway into my campsite.
Another river shot. Did I take to many?
My van in the BLM campsite with the Arkansas River just several yards ahead.
Evening settling in with crescent moon.
The grasses that lined the campground road gave a soothing sound when the wind came by.
This large rock formation was on the other side of the river. I very much wanted to climb it but I could not find a place to cross the river nearby.
A view of my campsite with those large rock formations.
Another view of my campsite.
An open grass field flanked by rocky cliffs.
The view of the campground road looking southerly.
I walked about a mile along the river, scrambling over rocks the whole way.
The campsite was large and private, with a bench and fire pit.
The Arkansas river with a pretty shrub in the foreground
That looks so nice for a swim or dip.
Large rocks and clear waters.
Looking up river.
A little red shrub.
A field of dry grass, green pines at the edge, and rocky cliffs beyond, white clouds and blue sky above.
I climbed up some cliffs and took a photo of the river below.
Another pile of pretty stones. ...Calcite?
A lone pine tree growing out of the cracks in large boulders.
Another view looking down on the campground valley.
Evening shot of my van at camp.
